black stiffened felt bowler, brim curls up at sides, and is edged with black gros grain ribbon, hat band is also black gros grain, with a bow sewn in on the left side. Inside - lining band of brown leather. Labels - "superior quality ( plus coat of arms ). A & J Simpson, tailors and outfitters, Skipton". - 'Sablette' - ' The Gauntic make '. Worn by Mr William George Wilson (1886-1981; donor's father, a farm bailiff from Cartmel).
