Summary

Public: Teapot stand, soft paste porcelain, decorated in underglaze scale blue ground, with 'fancy birds' in iron red, green, pink, puce, yellow and grey enamels and gilt. Private: Moulded hexagonal stand with flat base and straight sloping fluted sides, emphasised at corners. Underglaze scale blue ground on upper surface with rococo mirror-shaped and vase-shaped reserves, round central circular reserve edged in scalloped gilt line. Central panel filled with scene of brightly coloured bird. Simple gilt scrolls round outer reserves, mirror reserves filled with scene of single bird and foliage, vase reserves each filled with different insect. Small reserves round gilt edged rim, also filled with insects.
