Summary

Public: Tea cup and saucer, soft paste porcelain, painted underglaze cobalt blue and gilt with striped pattern. Private: Wide tea cup with slightly indented horizontal band running round body just above base. Tapering footring and loop handle. Body moulded with spiralled fluting on exterior. Painted with underglaze blue narrow stripes along every other flute, covered in gilt pattern of curving line weaving round large dots. White flutes in between decorated with alternating gilt patterns of scrolling waves and simple foliage stems. Gilt edge to rim and round top of footring, gilt detail on handle. Deep saucer with curving sides and tapering footring, slightly indented horizontal bandround body in the middle. Upper surface moulded with spiralled fluting decorated with same pattern of alternating spiralled narrow blue and gilt lines, and white flutes with gilt patterning. Central white panel in well surrounded by inverted scalloped gilt outline, and containing small formal floral motif in blue and gilt at its centre.
