Summary

Public: Clear colourless potash-lime glass, sweetmeat glass or goblet with engraved and cut decoration to body and foot, and faceted stem. Private: Eight-sided body, with 2 broad convex sides, connected to 2 narrow sides with everted rims, by 4 concave sides. All decorated with wheel-engraving. One broad side decorated with elaborate monogram, surmounted by crown. Second broad side decorated with oval crest, containing diagonal band with 3 stars, and surmounted by elaborate plumage. Both enclosed in cartouche borders. On each concave side stands an allegorical female figure in oriental-style costume. The pair adjoining the side of the Monogram hold a ring in one hand, and rest the other hand on the head of a dog. The pair adjoining the side of the crest hold a platter of fruit. On either of the narrow sides is the image of pedestalled bust, surmounted by a floral swag and framed with cartouches. A single tapered flat flute underlays each of these busts. Mitre cuts frame the wheel-engraved scenes, which also contain printies in the cartouches. Cut and bevelled rim profile. Faceted baluster stem. Foot rim bordered with scrolls and foliage, using wheel-engraving, stippling, and printies. Smaller engraved border surrounds base of stem. Cut star pattern on underside of foot.
