In preparation for World Book Day on Thursday 5 March, let us help you get your character ideas flowing and costumes started!

Come along to our Costume Factory in the Clore Art Studio for inspiration and assistance in designing, cutting and stitching felt masks, headdresses and logos to bring your Gruffalos and Gangsta Grannies to life.

In May 2020 we are opening a brand new creative facility for families – as part of this we are trialing a “making space” to enable children to enjoy taking part in this annual international reading initiative.

Drop in to the Clore Art Studio any time between 1-3pm

Central Library will be running Costume Factory sessions on 17 and 18 February. See their website for more details: http://www.librarylive.co.uk/

Chinese New Year Celebrations 2020

Join us to celebrate the year of the rat with a range of Manchester based artists and Chinese performers from the Confucius Institute.

You can pick and choose what you do; take part in a Tai Chi class, listen to traditional Chinese Guzheng and Flute music, make shadow puppets, decorate cookies or borrow drawing materials to capture the extravaganza. Don’t forget to catch the Lion Dance at the end of the day.

All our activities are suitable for families.
Please note we can get very busy on this special day, as we are located in the heart of China Town.

Our neighbours at Central Library are running a complimentary programme of fabulous family activities, please check their website for more details.

Approximate  timings for the day

Clore Art Studio

12pm – Dance performance
1pm – Guzheng musical performance
2pm – Tai Chi
3pm – Flute performance
Drawing all day
