Creating Safer Spaces

  • Do you work with people who have experienced trauma?
  • Are you passionate about supporting people with lived experience of trauma to access the arts and culture?
  • Would you be willing to share your time and expertise with Manchester Art Gallery ?

We are inviting professionals and community leaders working with people who have lived experience of trauma to be involved in our community consultation, Creating Safer Spaces on Wednesday 13 December, 10am – 12pm.

Creating Safer Spaces is a one-off event where together we will explore what makes a gallery trauma informed. The 2-hour workshop will consist of an introduction to the project, an opportunity to look around the gallery, some practical activities to encourage discussion and a consolidation of ideas and opinions. The session is facilitated by associate artist Kate Freeborough.

No art background or experience is required. Lunch will be provided at 12pm, catered by the Gallery Café.

Creating Safer Spaces is part of a year-long research project funded by The Baring Foundation and led by the Gallery’s Health and Wellbeing Manager, Louise Thompson.

Free. Places are limited. Book via Eventbrite.
