Dandy Style: A Global Tapestry

Lubaina Himid, The Dandy

Explore and reveal aspects of the global context of the exhibition with Isabelle Killcoat & Richard Foulkes

Inspired by our current exhibition Dandy Style, this a talk explores and reveals aspects of the global context of the exhibition. The talk will raise questions and thoughts about the impact of colonial history, trade, migration and travel on textiles, fashion and style from the 18th century to the present day. The session will be lead by Isabelle Killicoat and Richard Foulkes.

Isabelle has been a guide at the gallery for 20 years inspiring visitors with her tours of the collection. She has a particular interest in fashion, dress and gardening.

Richard has been part of the guides team for 5 years and has developed an interest in making global connections between art works and exploring the intertwined histories of migration, colonial histories and trade.

Both guides were a key part of the gallery’s online programme over the last couple of years.
