Come along to hear a Q&A with Manchester Art Gallery’s pioneering paint sponsor Edward Bulmer, who produce plant-based and eco-friendly paints both in the heritage sector and for the general public. The Q&A will be followed by an optional Natural Wine tasting event hosted by Carte Blanche Wines.
Edward Bulmer Natural Paints works with the non-profit Manchester Art Gallery to provide sustainable paints for our exhibition spaces. Bulmer is a renowned interior designer, architectural historian and ‘colourman’ within the heritage sector and has spent the last 30 years working in some of Britain’s finest buildings. The Q&A will be led by our Fine Art curator Rebecca Milner, looking at the use of colour in gallery spaces, and will be held in the Dutch gallery ‘Home, Land and Sea: Art in the Netherlands 1600-1800’ in Gallery 14.
There will be a 30-minute break after the talk to explore our new Dandy Style exhibition and fashion gallery, which is decorated with Edward Bulmer paint. You are also welcome to view our other exhibitions, or enjoy some refreshments in the Gallery Café before browsing in the Gallery Shop.
Following on with the theme of sustainability, we are then hosting a natural wine tasting event from 3:30 to 5:00pm. The event will include four wines and assorted canapés. Join our expert sommelier on a journey of discovery through four natural and sustainable wines from local sellers, each one handpicked for the event.
Manchester Art Gallery is a non-profit civic gallery owned by the people of Manchester; tickets for the wine tasting are £40 per person, to cover the costings for a 90 minute wine-tasting session with a sommelier, light nibbles, and the Eventbrite fee. In the unfortunate event that we are unable to sell enough tickets, the wine tasting will be cancelled and your ticket will be fully refunded. Whilst the wine tasting is for adults aged 18+, all ages are welcome to the Q&A event.
