Leonard McComb RA Book Launch

Beam Editions invites you to Manchester Art Gallery for the book launch of the definitive monograph on Leonard McComb.

Irish Born, Son of Manchester

The launch of the first definitive Monograph on Leonard McComb RA (1930-2018)

Q&A with the author Richard Davey and Anne Draycott the Artist’s Sister.

Born in 1930, one of six children from an Irish immigrant family, McComb grew up in Wythenshawe and Moss Side and studied at Manchester School of Art. The artist transcended his hard, working-class beginnings to become one of the most respected artists of his generation. McComb’s work combines close observations of people, nature, landscape and still life, capturing the vital energy embodied in the world around us. His mesmerising techniques provide an almost infinite depth to the works, often on an epic scale.

Join us for drinks and a Q&A with author Richard Davey and Leonard McComb’s sister Anne Draycott. Alongside the opportunity to view two major works by the artist now in the permanent collection.

McComb’s work is featured in major collections such as the Tate, National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Major exhibitions include the Venice Biennale and Serpentine Gallery.

Free entry, everyone welcome! Book via Eventbrite.
