A two part session exploring windows in art and unsung heroes from Manchester’s collection.

 

Join Gallery guide, Julia, for an absorbing exploration of the way in which artists use windows in their paintings, both as compositional devices and as harbingers of meaning.

For the second part of the session, Isabelle will be play tribute to the skills of all those anonymous team members who have played their part in creating these masterpieces, yet are never mentioned in the headline. She will explore a fascinating selection of paintings, pottery, wood block prints, metalwork, tiles and costume

Manchester Art Gallery’s guides team delve into the collection each month researching and presenting a range of themes and ideas. These sessions use images of art works, many of which are currently in storage.
