To continue our programme of events in partnership with Stitched Up, celebrating the opening of the new Fashion Gallery at Manchester Art Gallery, focusing on re-use, mending and upcycling, we are excited to present our next workshop – Re Do Your Denim!
Using patching and embroidery techniques and taking inspiration from Japanese Sashiko stitching, we will help you to create visible mends that are both unique and fabulous that will give your item a new lease of life!
This is a hand stitch workshop suitable for beginners where you will learn how to patch denim and learn a variety of different embroidery stitches including Sashiko.
Age: Adults aged 18+ are all welcome.
Bring along a denim item if you have one you’d like to embellish. If not, we will have denim samples for you to work on. If you have a non-denim garment you’d like to work on you are welcome to bring that too.
Please note: If you need us to provide you with a denim sample there will be an additional charge of £2 per sample ( cash please )
Tea, coffee and our delicious homemade biscuits will be waiting for you on arrival.
If you have any dietary requirements or require assistance accessing the Studio please contact Debbie, [email protected]
When you have finished creating your work of art why not take the opportunity to take a look at the Fashion Gallery and Dandy Style exhibition, and enjoy some refreshments in the Gallery Café before browsing in the Gallery Shop.
