Refugee Week

Artwork by artist Murugiah

Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Founded in 1998 and held every year around World Refugee Day on the 20 June, Refugee Week is also a growing global movement.

The theme for Refugee Week’s 25th Anniversary is Compassion. Working with our Families of the World group and The Lion’s Den (The Clore Art Studio) family visitors we will develop creative activities to create a shared understanding of compassion in action.

By creating a ‘Compassion Corner’ in The Lion’s Den (Clore Art Studio) we will share the Refugee Week vision with our visitors. We want refugees and asylum seekers to live safely within inclusive and resilient communities, where they can continue to make a valuable contribution.

As part of our Refugee Week celebrations artists Rabia Begum and Tina Ramos Ekongo will be running our fun Creative Families.

Join them on Saturday 17  and Sunday 25 June in The Lion’s Den (the Clore Art Studio) 1-3pm, where you can make your own colourful artworks to add to our Compassion Corner.

Free and no need to book.
