A guided tour of art that illustrate the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.
Saturday 27 August 2016, 12.30pm–1pm
Volunteer Guide John Ward discusses Thomson’s Aeolian Harp by JMW Turner and the act of Taking notice. Just one of the paintings John will be exploring in this month’s The art of wellbeing tour.
A mysterious and timeless river, the twilight greens of the trees, and the beauty of the fading light, all lend an enchanting quality to this truly epic painting. And as we notice the intriguing rituals to the right and the strange city in the distance, we begin to realise that this is no ordinary landscape but one that is just waiting to be explored with a sense of wonder. In our day-to-day, lives we are often driven by our over-busy minds and the anxieties that arise from the feeling that time is forever slipping away from us. Can Turner’s masterpiece help us to rediscover depth to our being and a sense of inner calm?
