Illusion, Innuendo and Worldly Wisdom: Unlocking the Secrets of Manchester’s Dutch and Flemish Masterpieces with guide, John Ward.
Step into the strange world of the seventeenth century Low Countries and experience the expanding horizons that nurtured so many startling innovations in painting. Explore the new fascination with light and space as well as a preoccupation with the transience of things. Delight in the course comedy of Manchester’s genre paintings and yet also grasp the serious moral messages contained therein.
Manchester Art Gallery has an amazing team of volunteer guides who deliver tours at the gallery four times a week. While we can’t gather people together physically for tours at this time, the team will be delivering online sessions twice a month using Zoom.
