The joyful, vibrant paintings of the four Scottish Colourists, SJ Peploe, FCB Cadell, GL Hunter and JD Fergusson – when once seen are not easily forgotten. All were born in Scotland in the 1870’s and their passion for avant-garde French art experienced first-hand on their many paintings and study trips to France breathed new life into Scottish art. Manchester Art Gallery has a small but exciting collection of their work, which is a celebration of life in all its richness.
This Tour by our Guide Julia Marwood will look at a wide range of their work and guarantees to leave you longing for the sunshine of France and the stunning beauty of the Scottish islands.
Manchester Art Gallery has an amazing team of volunteer guides who deliver tours at the gallery usually four times a week.
While we can’t gather people together physically for tours at this time, the team will be delivering online sessions twice a month using Zoom.
