Summary

View from a river of a walled town with a castle on raised ground in the background. The town wall, with castellations and an arched gateway, forms the midground. The roofs of the town can be seen above the wall. There is a half timbered house at the left of the wall and a raised bank in front of it to the right. The river is in the foreground and there are boats drawn up on the bank at the left. Figures can be seen beside the boats and there are cattle on the raised bank to the right. The castle is on the top of a rocky outcrop at the centre background, with mountains beyond to the right.
