Landscape of the Megaliths

Paul Nash 1889 - 1946

Summary

A rural landscape with standing stones in a line recessing to the right edge. The closest standing stone is just to the left of the centre and its shadow falls in front of it, point down to the bottom right corner. The other standing stones are on the right of the composition and gradually get smaller as they get further away. They are positioned in a field, which appears to have been harvested as it has parallel lines moving across it. There is a conical earth formation to the centre background and a large dandelion clock in the left foreground.
