Summary

Public: 'Meiping' shaped baluster vase, white earthenware, decorated with repeated pattern of deer and trees between foliate borders, in silver lustre on a pink and apricot glaze. Private: 'Meiping' vase, tapering from high flat shoulder to flared foot, wide neck with thick everted rim. Decorated with a pink and apricot patchy glaze, pink mostly round upper body, apricot below. Pale silver lustre painted pattern of four spotted deer in a woodland setting with tufts of grass and small plants, between four trees with heart-shaped leaves. At shoulder, between trees, triangular groups of spiral motifs like clouds. Chinese classic scroll border on shoulder in silver against a dark pink glaze, wide border of curving oak leaves between silver bands over apricot round base.
