Summary

Public: Globular two-handled jar made of white earthenware, decorated with two lions rampant between flowering trees, in silver and copper lustre over a dark blue glaze. Private: Globular jar tapering to straight foot, with tapered straight neck and two thick loop handles, applied beneath neck rim and on shoulder, decorated with a dark cobalt blue glaze. Body painted in silver lustre with two large lions rampant, one on each side, within rectangular borders containing alternate silver and copper lustre leaves. Between lion panels, beneath handles, two narrow panels each containing a stylised flowering tree with heart-shaped silver and copper lustre leaves. Two small rectangular panels on neck, each containing flowering plant with silver and copper heart-shaped leaves. Neck rim, neck interior and handles covered in plain silver lustre. shape : 2662 range : Lancastrian
