Summary

Public: Pear shaped vase, white earthenware, decorated with four stags, four orange trees and gothic inscription in silver lustre on a copper red glaze. Private: Pear shaped vase on flared footring, tapering to straight neck, decorated with a bright, lustrous, copper red glaze. Painted in silver lustre with four large stags in a woodland setting amongst tufts of grass and small plants, facing each other in two pairs, each with one foreleg raised. Four stylised orange trees, one between each stag, on tall narrow stems with leafy branches and blossoms in copper red joining together to form a canopy above. Stags all in bright lustre, tree tops turned dark brown down one side. Wide border round neck inscribed in gothic script with FESTINA LENTE (make haste slowly) in dull brown and yellow lustre. Clear glaze on interior, iridescent green lustre at neck. Clear white underside. shape : 2621 range : Lancastrian
