Summary

Public: Baluster vase, white earthenware, decorated with six fish swimming amongst weeds, in copper and silver lustre on a red-brown lustrous glaze over a pale blue base glaze. Private: 'Meiping' shaped baluster vase tapering from high rounded shoulder to narrow flared foot, with narrow, short, flared neck. Decorated in a light sky blue glaze, with a red-brown lustrous glaze over the top, curdling round shoulder to reveal pale blue streaks beneath. Glaze turns iridescent gold and dark blue-green round foot and lower body. Painted round upper body with six scaly fish, alternating three in silver lustre with copper eyes and fins, three in copper lustre. Fish swim nose to tail in a line, last fish with it's tail turned back on itself. Four slender weeds rise in undulating stems from foot, spreading into wide fronds at shoulder, groups of bubbles rising in wavy lines between them. Darkened lustre neck rim, narrow copper and silver bands round foot.
