Summary

Public: Tapered cylindrical vase, white earthenware, decorated with four storks between cypress trees, one in flight, in silver and copper lustre on a bright green glaze. Private: Cylindrical vase tapering to foot, with rounded shoulder curving in to short, wide, tapered neck. Decorated with bright green glaze round shoulder, darkening to a milky dark green round foot. Painted overglaze in pale grey silver lustre with four storks between four stylised, tall, slender cypress trees. Each stork adopts a slightly different pose, three standing amongst tufted grasses and flowering orchids, one in flight with wings outspread against a copper red sun, three flowering orchids on the ground below. Four small groups of Chinese classic scrolls round shoulder, above each stork, in silver and copper lustre, scroll border in silver and copper round neck. Wide chevron border round base beneath main design, in alternating fine silver and copper lines. Green glazed interior.
