Summary

Public: Wide cylindrical vase with narrow neck, white earthenware, decorated with eight fish swimming amongst weeds, in silver and copper lustre over a lustrous purple-brown and green glaze. Private: Wide cylindrical vase with curved base on narrower footring. Body tapers slightly toward rounded shoulder and narrow, short neck with flared rim. Decorated with a blue-green glaze which has turned iridescent brown-purple and dark green-brown in patches and streaks through firing. Painted round waist with eight fish, six in silver lustre with copper lustre eyes, two in red copper lustre, swimming in overlapping groups through four dull silver weeds rising from groups of pebbles at base. Three silver fish have fired bright silver, three a dull beige. Silver lustre bands round neck and base, both with narrower bands of red copper lustre.
