hair piece & wig stand

hair piece & wig stand

Turned wooden stand with screw to clamp to base. Base absent. the stand is hollow, so it is presumably adjustable in height. The head part of the wig stand is of thick black leather, nailed onto the base with domed brass nails. the head is helmet shaped, with a seam running from the centre front to the back. the face part has been cut out and hinged with a double-sewn strip of leather (broken). On the other side it fastens with a pair of brass latch hooks and rings. This hinged compartment presumably held the wig-curlers (a round wooden base with vertical stand accompanied this wig stand, but it does not fit).
