Summary

Purple wool dress. Round neckline. Long sleeves and quite full with elasticated cuffs. Self lined slit pockets at sides. Fastens CB with a long zip. Label : "Jeff Banks / 100% wool / DRY CLEAN ONLY / Made in England" Bought in a boutique in Leamington Spa in 1973, probably in the January sale. At this time she was aged 23-4 and keeper of folk life and costume at Warwick Museum. always a favourite dress she wore it at parties, evenings out, gallery openings etc. Jeff Banks set up on his own in 1963 in a shop called 'Clobber', and traded until 1974 when a fire destroyed his whole stock.
