Summary

Public: An oblong box with concave sides, rounded base, ormolu mount and hinged lid. Enamel on metal and painted in colours over a print on a white ground, the lid depicts a landscape scene with a shepherd and shepherdess and the sides four extensive landscapes; a peacock is painted inside the lid. Private: An oblong box with concave sides, rounded base, ormolu mount and hinged lid. Enamel on metal and painted in colours over a print on a white ground. The lid depicts a shepherd seated on a mound under a tree playing a pipe to a shepardess who sits holding a crook from which ribbons hang. The sides are painted with four extensive landscapes with classical ruins, figures and trees divided at the sides by arrows and dots in putple. The bottom is painted with a red scroll with a similar one on the inside bottom. The inside of the lid is painted with a peacock catching a fly.
