Josiah Wedgwood 1780 - 1836

Large rectangular ink stand with straight sides curving in to foot, and chamfered corners giving elongated octagonal shape. Upper surface has two long concave troughs, one wide, one narrow, and three deep circular wells to hold inkwell, pounce pot and shallow dish shaped cover. Far left well accompanied by smaller circular well to the side with thick rim. Conical circular pounce pot with concave upper surface perforated with a pattern of small holes forming a quatrefoil, plain circular cover with concave upper surface forming shallow dish, conical circular inkwell with concave upper surface with central inkhole and hole for quill. All decorated with a pale olive-green glaze, ink well now a dark grey/green with glaze flaking off in small patches, as a result of absorbing ink into the body over sustained period of use.
