Summary

Broad cylindrical jar with thrown ribbed sides, tapering to narrow flared foot, with tapering shoulder and short straight neck. Two horizontal loop handles to sides, just below shoulder. Deep red earthenware body incised around shoulder with inscription 'I L 1731'. Rich glossy dark brown lead glaze containing manganese, foot left unglazed.
