Summary
Public: Mug formed in the shape of a satyr's head crowned with fruiting grapevines, cream coloured earthenware, satyr's horns, eyes and grapes picked out in gilt. Private: Mug in the form of grinning bearded satyr's head with curled locks of hair behind ears and crown of fruiting grapevines beneath everted rim. Oval spreading foot with relief-moulded acanthus border, strap loop handle flaring toward lower acanthus terminal. Pale cream coloured body with greenish-yellow glaze pooling in crevices, grapes and satyr's horns and eyes picked out in gilt, traces of which remain. Dark brown iron-rich blemish inside rim.
