Summary

Public: Pear shaped coffee pot with acanthus moulding to handle and spout, white earthenware, with surface agate decoration and inlaid slip chequered border, beneath pearlware glaze. Private: Pear shaped coffee pot on turned spreading foot, with S-shaped spout and ribbed strap loop handle, both moulded with acanthus detail at junctions with body. Main body of pot decorated with form of marbled decoration comprising shreds of dark brown, light brown, yellow, blue and white coloured clays applied to surface and turned smooth on a lathe, giving granite-like pattern. Granite pattern interrupted around waist by narrow inlaid slip band of black and white cheques, and above foot by plain white fluted border. Heavy flat circular cover with tear-shaped finial picked out in black enamel, small pierced hole to one side. Blue pearlware glaze, pooling in crevices.
