Summary

Public: Rounded cylindrical vase with wide straight neck, white earthenware, decorated with scrolling stems of roses in cobalt blue glaze and silver lustre against lustrous blue-green glaze. Private: Cylindrical vase with rounded convex sides tapering to flat foot, short sloping shoulder rising to straight wide neck. Decorated with a deep cobalt blue glaze, overpainted in silver lustre around main body with scrolling stems of heart-shaped leaves and twelve roses in alternating groups of one and two around shoulder. Lustre border to neck comprising two rows of heart-shaped leaves between horizontal bands, border to foot of rectangular panels containing quartered quatrefoils between horizontal bands. Cobalt blue glaze is turned lustrous turquoise-green over most of body, reserving deep cobalt colour to rose blooms. Lustre is misfired and dull around one side.
