Summary

Public: Miniature oviform vase with narrow neck, red earthenware, with a band of white slip on neck and shoulder beneath turquoise Opalescent-veined glaze and Starry Opalescent crystals. Private: Oviform vase tapering toward shoulder, with very narrow neck and flared rim. Neck and shoulder have been dipped in white slip before coating with Opalescent-veined glaze giving band of opaque pale blue round upper body. Rest of vase covered in streaky feathery glaze, red earthenware body visible beneath turquoise glaze streaks, giving overall purplish colour. At edge of rim and in patch just beneath rim tiny green Starry Opalescent crystals, crystalline glaze containing cobalt fired to 1000 C.
