Summary

Public: Double-gourd shaped vase, red earthenware, with thick turquoise Opalescent-veined glaze and green Starry Opalescent crystals. Private: Double-gourd shaped vase tapering in to base, with wide bulbous neck curving inwards to straight rim. Thick opalescent-veined glaze gives turquoise base colour with green streaks round junction of neck and shoulder, and blue/green streaks running down body. Red earthenware body visible beneath streaks, especially on upper part of neck round rim. Neck covered in patches of blue/green Starry Opalescent crystals (crystalline glaze containing cobalt fired to 1000 C), large patch and smaller streaks of crystals on side of body.
