Private: Plate, circular, shallow form, deep rim, inner well, waisted profile, transfer-printed overglaze, brick red. Aeneas and Anchises depicts Aeneas escaping with family from burning city of Troy. He, left, carries his father Anchises on his shoulders. His son and wife follow. Background burning classical buildings. The scene is enclosed within a cartouche of scrollwork and ribbons. Enamelled overglaze brick red spearhead border inner rim. pattern : Aeneas and Anchises
