Public: Teabowl and teapot stand, soft paste porcelain, octagonal, transfer-printed and enamelled overglaze in black with scenes of birdlife. Private: Teabowl : octagonal, flared rim, enamelled overglaze, sepia-black. Exterior flower sprays, interior diaper and foliage border, flying bird inner well. Teapot stand : octagonal, curved inner, fluted exterior, transfer printed overglaze, black, inner well. Three Birds in a Tree shows two birds sitting in a small tree, third bird sitting, bottom right, on extended leaf of rear plant. Distant right, buildings. Rural landscape, birds flying in sky. Enamelled overglaze, black, diaper and foliage border inner rim.
