Summary

Public: Sauce boat, soft paste porcelain, scroll handles with pads at thumbrests, moulded fluting and cartouche exterior, transfer-printed overglaze in black with seasonal images and birdlife. Private: Sauce boat, double lipped, two scroll handles with pads at thumbrests, relief flower at terminal, moulded fluting exterior of lip and rim overlapping body near handle, scroll and foliage cartouches either side of handles. Transfer-printed overglaze, black with seasonal scenes within relief cartouches. Winter depicts woman seated in sled being pushed over ice by man, skaters in background. Autumn shows man and woman, seated, drinking wine in vineyard. Spring depicts man and woman standing beside planted urn, he holds spade, watering can to left. Summer shows man cutting corn with scythe, woman kneeling to tie sheaf. Inner well shows riverside bird scene, swimming swans, heron, kingfisher. Trees flank scene.
