Summary

Public: Globular teapot, soft paste porcelain, painted overglaze in black, blue, green, yellow, purple, grey, white and iron red enamels and gilt with Chinoiserie figures. Private: Globular teapot with high shoulder and cylindrical neck, on heavy footring, plain loop handle and spout. Sides enamelled overglaze with repeated scene of two Chinese ladies with child and small dog, facing Chinese man seated at low table, tall stand to one side, butterflies scattered about. Green and red floral sprig to underside of spout, gilt and red crowfoot border to shoulder, handle picked out in purple. Domed cover with flattened rim and central teardrop finial tipped with red. Gilt and red crowfoot border to rim, enclosing Chinese man and dog at low table, surrounded by butterflies. Small pierced hole to one side.
