The gallery is free and open to all as a place of civic thinking and public imagination.
Our vision and mission is to be an inclusive art gallery for the people of Manchester and the wider world; opening minds to the essential role of creativity in making a healthy society and contributing to social change.
The building that houses Manchester Art Gallery has stood on the corner of Mosley Street and Princess Street for nearly 200 years.
From Summer 2021 we will be undertaking a significant programme of collection-based work. We will be unable to consider any new loan requests, but all lending commitments which have already been agreed will be honoured.
Our activities often extend further than we could possibly imagine, due to the energy, ideas, enthusiasm and passion of our staff and volunteers.
We are committed to promoting environmental sustainability and are working hard to reduce the environmental impacts of all of our activities.
