Summary

A group of people in eighteenth century costume, sat and stood in a hign ceilinged room. One of two prints published by Robert Sayer in London in 1772 celebrating the opening of the Pantheon, a cultural venue on Oxford Road in London during the 18th century. It was designed by James Wyatt and opened in 1772, the year of this engraving. It was one of the most fashionable venues of the day. It was rebuilt following a fire in 1792 but never regained its former popularity. It was demolished in 1937 and replaced with a Marks and Spencer store.
