Summary
This scene shows a rural landscape at night time with a large moon in the sky to the right. Filling nearly half of the composition is the dense group of trees on the left hand side, which can be seen stretching into the distance and across the composition. Following the line of the trees there is a pathway set into the field which is lit up by the moonlight. A solitary figure can be seen silhouetted in the middle ground walking along this pathway. The darkness of the scene is created through the fine, dense linework which only becomes sparser towards the top of the composition in the sky alluding to the light given by the moon.
