Winter Morning

Gwendolen Raverat 1885 - 1957

Summary

The majority of the landscape portrayed is rather flat with neat fields bordered by fences apart from in the distance to the right where there are gentle slopes. On the right hand side on the horizon there are a few buildings but these are very small in scale and in shadow. The main focus of the scene is the dense woods in the left middle ground with a few buildings in front of them. It is also towards these trees that the birds visible in the sky seem to be flying towards. The sky is quite dark through the horizontal delineation, but there is a bright patch just to the left of the trees which mirrors them in it's curved form.
