Summary

White cotton trousers, printed with close (0.25in) triple stripes in mauve, vertically down the length. Cut with a small front-fall fastening with cf seam, buttoning with self fabric buttons; 9 pleats either side cf in the "cossack" style; slightly tapering legs with 1.25 in hems; vertical slit pockets in the side seams; V shaped gusset cb waist (torn); 4 horn buttons for braces around waist; wide waist band, cut on the cross, with small coin/watch pocket on the right; waist lined white cotton. Entirely hand sewn. See similar striped "Cossac pantaloons" in fashion plate from "Ladies Little Messenger" 1823
