Women Bathing
Summary
The focal point in this print is the nude woman who is depicted reclining across the foreground, her head on the right and her feet on the left hand side. Around her are three other women who are all fully clothed in long dresses and seated in the shadows cast by the heavy trees on the right hand side, a strong contrast to her brightly lit, fully revealed body. The other women are all in a variety of positions; one has her back to the viewer and is seated with her knees drawn up behind the nude woman, another is seen to the right looking back into the trees behind her, again looking away from the viewer. The third woman is seated just to the right of the nude woman who is leaning against her legs, and she seems to echo her actions as they both have their arms bent towards their heads and they are both looking out to the left.
