Summary

Biblical scene; Jesus carrying a wooden cross and buckling under the weight of it. Jesus is at centre of a procession of figures on a path leading to the left and up a hill. Several figures attempt to alleviate the strain while a mounted guard to the right prods Jesus with his sword. St Veronica stands to the left pressing a cloth to Jesus's forehead. Mary stands to her left.
