Summary

Three lengths of woven dress silks: 1. 1769, red & green floral sprays on beige ground, figured with a vertical cream stripe & cream floral trails; piece cut from a gown or petticoat & also a matching small drawstring bag with shaded ribbon ties. 2. early 1770s plum lutestring silk woven with ivory & green stylised floral motifs in spaced stripes. 3. c.1780 lightweight flesh pink silk woven with a dark brown velvet stripe at narrow intervals. Paper labels written in ink in a contemporary hand on 2 lengths : 1. "My Grandmother Remington's wedding gown - married 1769 - bought in London by her cousins the Miss Dawsons. Mr Greene's mother was one of the four sisters. Ellen Talham." 2. "Mrs Ellin Remington's best gown - my father's aunt & my godmother. E.T."
