Two seated women in the foreground, smoking, in conversation; the subject of their observations strutts before them, pencil in mouth, notebook in hand and wearing military uniform. Various dancing figures are behind. There is a line of seated men and women against the wall on the right, the men are depicted as overweight, middle aged, wearing military dress.
