Summary

White (India) muslin spotted in tambour work, and bobbin lace (Lille or East Midlands). Bodice fastening at back with drawstring across neck and waist. Front of lace with band of drawn threadwork at neck and waist, drawstring across neck. Short sleeves of lace. Trained skirt opening at top CB and each side seam. Side openings with with gathered frill over openings, exteding into round train. CF embroidered from waist to hem in tambour and knot work in lattice and scallop design with formal sprigs and leaves. Hem embroidered in tambour work in festoons of dots and floral sprays. The wedding dress of Charlotte Martin (1785-1849), married John Edwards (b.1781) of Ness Strange, 2 December 1806. See Lancaster Gazette for notice (13 Dec 1806). Miss Martin was the niece of the Duke of Athol, and the daughter of the Rev George Martin.
