Summary
Overdress in lace, with round neck and short sleeves (long sleeves removed after wedding for evening wear). Skirt joined to bodice. Four applique ivory satin rosettes around hem. CB 20" zip. Sm,all shoulder pads. Full length underdress of ivory rayon acetate. Separate tie belt (with sideloops), 72" long. Dress worn by donor's mother, Irene clark for her marraige to Robert Bradford on 3 June 1939 at Trinity Methodist Church in Nelson. The bride was born in November 1909 and in 1931 had become the first female Associate of the Textile Institute. The grooms was born in October 1903, and they both came from Colne in Lancashire. they subsequently lived in Wembley (1939-44) and Stanmore, Middlesex (1944-91). They had two sons, John (b.1946) and Richard (b.1956) and died in 1991 (Irene) and 1985 (Robert).
