Mother and Child

George Elgar Hicks 1824 - 1914

Summary

A side view of a young mother with long, blonde, flowing hair which is pinned at the back, and wearing a pale dress. She is seated with her young child asleep in her arms, and one leg crooked to support him. Fabric is draped all around: both on her lap and the surface upon which she sits. It appears to be a bed but its head is indistinguishable in the dark, shadowy background.
