Summary
Blue silk, brocaded in white with serpentine branches, exotic flowers, honeysuckle and butterflies. Silk is dated 1750-1765. Evening dress for an exceptionally small woman, completely re-fashioned with silk from an 18th Century original. Bodice is detached from skirt at CF, where it forms a deep point. Boned. Back of dress cut in princess line, fastening by lacing down CB. Long bone each side. Right side pleat conceals a deep pocket of white cotton. Patent clip hook and eye below back opening to fasten. Rouleau loop in CB seam with second loop to hold train for dancing.
